I’m at rib fest and just took my kid on the Gravitron. I think they cool off fuel rods inside that thing. Jesus Christ. I am drenched in sweat and it’s almost dusk.
Not sure how big of news it is outside of California but I think there are 17 major fires burning right now. Some days the smoke is so bad, you don't have a shadow. Typically you don't have a cloud in the sky during the summer here but we haven't had a clear blue sky is almost 3 weeks. The Mendocino Complex Fire is the 2nd largest in CA history with 273,000 acres burned and only 33% contained. The Carr fire is 160,000 acres and 43% contained. 7 people killed so far & 1,600 structures burned in that one.
I feel ya... been there, done that. It sucks. And smells. Hope you're doing OK and are safely upwind.
This, the Central valley has among the worst air pollution in the United States and that is on a bonfire year. Imagine auto and truck emissions blown in from the coast with nowhere to go. Now add agriculture poisons sprayed up and down the valley. This smoke has just made everyone sick. I am lucky to live close enough to the delta to get some breeze to clear the sky a bit, but it is nasty.
Yeah, when I was living in BC we got it bad as well... supposed to be a clear, bright, hot sunny day, but instead we'd get this: (that's not fog).
With everything we’ve done to conquer and overrun this planet, there are still plenty things roaming it that we are absolutely no match for. We are land animals. Everything about the ocean tells us not to trespass. The seas are filled with monsters and aliens, except they actually exist.
I have a serious fear of swimming in ocean water where I can't see the bottom. I'm sure there's a name for it, like a condition, but in my head it's completely logical. There's some nasty stuff down there and I want no part of it. My wife and I are going to SF on friday and then down to Monterey. The hotel rents out Kayaks, which normally I'd jump at the opportunity, but it is great white breading season down there right now. Fuck. That.
So yeah... The Venture Bros started back up again last night. It was a fucking long wait, but it was a quality season opener.
Your right... I'm always afraid of having my drawstring come lose so that I end up loosing my bathing suit.
That’s one of the best experiences ever when you’re sailing. It’s at that point, that you know you’re in for an adventure. On a related note, I just got the DVD for White Squall. I haven’t seen that that movie in probably 15 years. One of my favorites and I highly recommend it.
Yes! Good to hear that one of my favorite shows is coming back strong. I'm adding that to the list of things to catch up on.
