Re: Weekend Drunk Thread, Nov 4-6? You're feeding 8 people with one chicken? If you use two, the cooking time will change in the crowded oven. Also remember to baste. Throw a little white wine or water in the bottom of the pan to get it going.
Re: Weekend Drunk Thread, Nov 4-6? Bundy is the $20 prostitute of rum. Sure it's cheap, and it'll fuck you, but will you actually enjoy the experience? And the day after, when the pimp is curbstomping your head, you just sit there and think: why? Why do I hate myself? Why would I willingly pollute my body with this nasty shit? Did I lick too many walls as a child? Is this penance for that time I rubbed one out to a mate's girlfriend? Picture a beautifully hot 35 degree day. Now picture a big, fat, hairy dude hauling bricks all day. Now imagine the sweat pooling in his fat rolls, then dripping down to his balls. That ballsweat tastes far, far better than Bundy. And it's more acceptable to drink in polite company. In short; fuck Bundy.
Re: Weekend Drunk Thread, Nov 4-6? That's a good lookin' dog. I've had a Boxer for twelve years. Best dog ever. Athletic as any. Cute as any.
Re: Weekend Drunk Thread, Nov 4-6? Are they taken plain, or is there some sort of sauce to go with them? They're micro sheepdogs. What's there to hate about micro sheep dogs?
Re: Weekend Drunk Thread, Nov 4-6? Ive never known anyone with a boxer that the dog wasn't psychotic. I don't know if they need a shit ton of exercise or what but they ALL were spastic nut jobs. Same goes with beagles. I love my AmStaff. They are good dogs. Proper socialization is a must, otherwise easy peasy:
Re: Weekend Drunk Thread, Nov 4-6? My wife has a Corgi. I hate it. All that fucking thing does is bark, bark, bark, bark, bark. It can't fetch or do anything else dog-like. It just waddles around on it's mini legs and barks at shit. The fact that it's around for Tonka to beat up on is it's sole redeeming feature.
Re: Weekend Drunk Thread, Nov 4-6? My family had several black labs growing up, who all died sadly. Our last one had a habit of following family members into the basement out of curiosity, then being terrified of walking back up the stairs. There's good amusement in watching your 140-lb father carry a 80-lb, wide-eyed dog up a flight of stairs. Anyone else here ever having an Australian shepherd mix? I swear those things are like hyperactive children.
Re: Weekend Drunk Thread, Nov 4-6? I can never keep my mouth shut about dog breeds: Boxers - for ever one boxer I've met that was laid back, easily trained with a delightful personality I've met ten that were batshit crazy. Super high energy, bouncy, barky. They are very friendly dogs, but man...you need to keep them busy. Any Purebred (especially designer pure breeds that serve no actual purpose) - this includes pugs or Frenchies or other breeds that have short snouts, stubby legs, whatever. Be very, very wary. Pure breed = more money, both with initial investment and over its lifespan. Pure dogs will have FAR more health problems than mutts. We had Rottweilers growing up. Love, love love the breed. However, Coors died young and never was in good health. Next time I get a dog, it will be a "Rottweiler cross," meaning, "Fuck, it looks rottie...but who really knows." Love me some mutts. Oh, and any dog crossed with a Corgi somewhere along the line looks like an [X breed] shoved into a Corgi body. A border collie, wide with short stubby legs. A German Shepherd, wide with short stubby legs. You get the point.
Re: Weekend Drunk Thread, Nov 4-6? I have shelties which are in the smallish sheepdog family. They used to be like hyperactive children, but now they are older and have calmed down a bit. They are just smart smart smart and easily bored which leads to psychotic behavior. But personally, I don't buy into the whole dogs need to be big thing. These guys will probably be the smallest that I will go (at about 25 lbs). I'll probably get something that doesn't shed as much next time, but still on the small side. I used to date somebody who had a Rottweiler that outweighed me, it was no fun. Ever tried to stare down a dog? I have.
Re: Weekend Drunk Thread, Nov 4-6? Best of luck staring down a Rottweiler. You could have a staring contest with ours for just as long as you pleased; that dog was well behaved, but it was because he decided he would be...not because he had an ounce of submission in him.
Re: Weekend Drunk Thread, Nov 4-6? I don't know about this. My dogs are rescues (one was a stray at an animal shelter, one from a rescue organization). One has had some sporadic health problems, the other not a darn thing. I attribute the health problems of the one more to his days on the street than to his breed (mostly arthritic problems). Granted, I suppose that we don't really know that the one is purebred since he was found on the street.
Re: Weekend Drunk Thread, Nov 4-6? Exactly, and herein lied the problem. I was the girl that came between a dog and his guy. He decided when and if he wanted to listen to me. And that was when I decided to never own a dog that I couldn't just pick up. Or at least slap a leash on and tug.
Re: Weekend Drunk Thread, Nov 4-6? This Penn State thing is so fucked I'm shaking with rage after reading this: http://www.attorneygeneral.gov/press.aspx?id=6270 They willfully covered up child rape. This includes Joe Paterno who received an eyewitness account and never reported it to police. The place needs to burn.
Re: Weekend Drunk Thread, Nov 4-6? There's a growing body of research out there suggesting that breeding dogs for specific traits is, in fact, harmful. Rather than being bred for long life or good health, pure breeds focus on things like long ears, good carriage, colouration, etc. <a class="postlink" href="http://www.humanesociety.org/news/magazines/2010/05-06/the_purebred_paradox.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.humanesociety.org/news/magaz ... radox.html</a> Pure breeds are subject, on average, to a far greater predisposition to genetic abnormalities. Deafness (associated with the dame gene that produces a white dog), epilepsy, hip dysplasia, etc.
Re: Weekend Drunk Thread, Nov 4-6? I went to a Penn State game when they played UVA. I also hosted some of my roommate's friends who went to Penn State in Charlottesville when Penn State came to play a game. Fuckers are absolutely nuts about their football and idolize Joe Paterno. But that makes me sick.
Re: Weekend Drunk Thread, Nov 4-6? Apparently my new apartment is directly on the NYC Marathon course. The wheelchair folks are passing by now. Kinda cool. I've lived in NYC for most of my life - seen the marathon in passing, but never had it go right by my window.
Re: Weekend Drunk Thread, Nov 4-6? Oh, and thanks for all who helped with my TV dilemma yesterday. We went and picked one up last night. Ended up getting the Samsung 55" LED, so I guess my husband can still claim to be a man, and because it is so thin, it actually fits in that awkward corner better than the 46" that was there before. The picture is super crisp, I think my husband is more excited to watch the Chiefs on it this afternoon than any kid has ever been about Christmas, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy combined.
Re: Weekend Drunk Thread, Nov 4-6? My Houseguest is running that today. Look for her- she'll be the one in green.
Re: Weekend Drunk Thread, Nov 4-6? I so wanted to go to NYC and cheer on a couple of friends. I also tried to get into that damn race...twice. I guess I have since decided that it was all for the best because running 26.2 miles seems more and more like insanity.
