    I'm stealing that.

The funny part for me is that there's this awesome bar off of Tahrir called Hurriya (freedom). Those people don't want reform, they want beer!

AJE reporting that an "urgent and important message" will be issued from the Presidential Palace shortly. Mubarak fled Cairo this morning, and military choppers landed at the palace a short time ago. Is this the beginning of the coup?

These crowds are massive. Tahrir Square is something like 45,000 square meters. Almost four times as big as Trafalgar, twice as big as Red Square. If you don't have the news on already, now would be the time. The images are incredible.

I don't think there's any chance Mubarak, in all his stubbornness, would leave Cairo unless forced out by the military.

I just hope the military doesn't do anything stupid, like tell the protesters to go home.

Fighting has broken out at a police station in Northern Sinai. At least 1 killed and 20 injured.

The army probably did force him to leave Cairo. Whether it was to take control or ensure his safety is the question.

Small arms fire and RPG attacks on that police station in the Northern Sinai. This is exactly what they don't need: any excuse for security forces to justify large-scale crowd suppression. At this point, it would take next to nothing to spark a massacre.

There's speculation that the people attacking the police station are not part of the mainstream in the protests.

I don't know much about Sinai, other than the bits of pieces they've been talking about on the news. It sounded like some of the Bedouin tribes are much more militant than the youth protesters and unions. The Egyptian equivalent of rednecks, I guess, who think "Second Amendment remedies" are the solution.

BBC is also reporting the the crowds in alexandria are being fed by the military with military rations. Peace and calm seem to be the prevalent mood, and not as much of the fear from even a few days ago.

Military personnel have arrived at the State TV office. Good sign that they'll be making a statement soon. Although, based on last night, national addresses in Egypt rival cable companies when it comes to scheduling.

It could really only be one of two things: either they announce that the armed forces have taken control of the Egyptian government, or they reiterate their support of Mubarak's exit plan and issue a strong, strong suggestion that the crowds disperse, lest things get out of control.

Considering they've toed the regime line thus far, I'll put my money on the latter. I've been wrong once or twice in my life, though.

A modern Arab nation-state just deposed a 30-year dictatorship in 18 days using non-violent protest. The historical magnitude of this event is immeasurable.

Congratulations, Egypt. You just set a new standard in world politics.

Watching the first major bloodless revolution see victory is awe inspiring. Major, major moment in global politics.
