Let's try and keep this even a bit on focus, shall we? There are some seriously major things going on on Egypt, Jordan, and Tunesia, so let's not derail that.

This blog post is very defensive, so I encourage you to read it and then do further research to make up your own mind:

Of course we all know this little statement, we've been thinking it, it's obvious. So read it twice:

Pro Mubarak groups are now clashing with the protesters. Protesters are claiming that the pro Mubarak group is lead by plain clothed state police. They say they've recovered police IDs from them, but of course there's no confirming where it came from.

Looks like the President of Yemen plans to exit after his term as well:

Several thousand supporters of President Hosni Mubarak, including some riding horses and camels and wielding whips, attacked anti-government protesters Wednesday as Egypt's upheaval took a dangerous new turn. <a class="postlink" href="http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110202/ap_on_re_mi_ea/ml_egypt" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110202/ap_ ... a/ml_egypt</a>

Yeah, those guys aren't the police in civilian clothes. Naaahhh.

They're carrying banners claiming bias from Al Jazeera. Given that the government cut off their broadcasts in the country, it's hard to think legit Mubarak supporters would be saying anything about AJZ.

I'm hearing reports that state police and pro-Mubarak crowds have blocked exits to Tahrir Square. This isn't a counter-protest. This is a massacre waiting to happen.

If this is confirmed, I don't see how the U.S. has any other choice but to urge the Egyptian military to remove Mubarak immediately, and I don't see them risking their aid money over a stubborn old man.

My bet? If things continue the way they have today, Egypt has a new interim head of state by Monday.

Check the video I posted above. I'd say that's confirmed.

    There are reports that the pro-Mubarak supporters aren't a spontaneous counter-demonstration, but have been arriving on buses with weapons. <a class="postlink" href="http://kristof.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/02/02/the-view-from-tahrir/?src=tptw" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://kristof.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/0 ... /?src=tptw</a>

It's doubtful the US will urge the military to remove Mubarak though. We've been very timid the whole time. All that we (and the UN) do is "demand" things and say that some things are "unacceptable," but without any threat or consequences. We say "you must turn on the internet," but we don't say "turn on the internet, or we will turn it on for you."

True, but that was before he had cordoned off thousands of people and ordered them beaten on live international television. The man is backing us into a corner with regard to our public stance.

Of course we wouldn't do it publicly or aggressively (yet), but reports have stated that we are in contact with Egyptian military leaders. The passing suggestion that Mubarak's regime has us thinking twice about our next round of aid should be enough.

The Yemeni president has said he will not seek a another term (ends in 2013), and would not pass the reins on to his son. Who knows if that's enough to stop the demonstrations there. 2013 is pretty far off. <a class="postlink" href="http://english.aljazeera.net/news/africa/2011/02/2011228541277951.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://english.aljazeera.net/news/afric ... 77951.html</a>

Multiple reports that pro-Mubarak-thugs (armed convicts, plainclothes policemen and other govt employees) are targetting journalists. Multiple reports of pro-Mubarak group having election-type mass produced banners, arriving by busloads with all kinds of weapons ( machetes, clubs, bats).

Army losing control in central cairo where clashes between pro-Mubarak thugs and anti-Mubarak protesters coming to blows.

What's the over/under on this turning into an all-out war? The police seem to be doing nothing but escalating this, and what once was a (relatively) peaceful riot has turned shockingly (to me) violent, quick.

Anyone want to made educated predictions? Is this really going to get as bad as I think?

Well since its turning out that the Muslim Brotherhood is in fact behind some of it, Id so those chances are increasing.

I'm watching the live feed on Al-Jazeera and they're moving ambulances into the square to move injured protesters to a field hospital.

"The health ministry said at least one person had been killed and another 400 injured in Wednesday's violence."

    Yep... shit's getting real.
