Every Time I Die - New Junk Aesthetic A Day to Remember - Homesick Jay Z - Blueprint 3 Protest The Hero - Fortress Slaughterhouse - Slaughterhouse
I guess I'll continue the GNR trend in my 5 go to albums as well: GnR -- Appetite for Destruction Blink 182 -- Enema of the State Weezer -- Blue Album The Beach Boys -- Pet Sounds Say Anything -- . . . Is a Real Boy
Before I got onto the iPod bandwagon (I have a 160 GB iPod classic that is about 90 GB full) I used to have a CD case in my car that held about 48 CD's. The most frequently played would have been. The Dandy Warhols - Welcome to the Monkey House Led Zeppelin - II Queen - Sheer Heart Attack Rolling Stones - Some Girls Beck - Odelay
Like many others, I usually just plug in my ipod. But here is what I have in there now (I do download, but if I like what I hear, I purchase the CD so I don't feel guilty...so a couple are ones that I have purchased lately vs. a couple older ones which will probably forever hold a spot) Tool - Lateralus Radiohead - OK Computer Stone Temple Pilots - Stone Temple Pilots Gorillaz - Plastic Beach Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf
one of my mixed cds Simon and Garfunkel Greatest Hits (1972) Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Greatest Hits (2008) Rilo Kiley--Under the Blacklight Rilo Kiley--More Adventurous
Like most, I typically go off of my ipod, but the CD changer is never far away from these: 1. The Music - Strength In Numbers. 2. Chris Isaak - Greatest Hits (this is actually some bootleg compilation I bought in Indonesia that has every good song he's ever done). 3. CCR - Chronicle, Vol. 1 or 2 4. Bob Seger - Against the Wind or Smokin' OPs (another Asian bootleg) 5. Anything by Joan Osborne EDIT: I love me some GNR, but does anyone else think the Illusions albums are better than Appetite? Particularly Illusions II?
Grace - Jeff Buckley, for contemplative moods. Dazed and Confused soundtracks - for when I'm in a classic rock fix. Queen: Greatest Hits and Classic Queen... for times when I just feel like singing along.
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium (it should count as 2 but I'm cheating in this instance) Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy Genesis - We Can't Dance Grateful Dead - Shakedown Street (I couldn't narrow it down to one bootleg if I tried) Modest Mouse - The Moon and Antarctica
Freddy vs. Jason Soundtrack - so many awesome bands - Killswitch Engage, Chimaira, Nothingface, Lamb of God, In Flames...so good. Pantera - Far Beyond Driven Tool - Opiate Type O Negative - October Rust Slayer - God Hates Us All
Guns N Roses-Appetite for Destruction-I was around 8 years old when I got this one on cassette. I still have the original tape, plus the CD, plus the digital version on my iPhone. It's been amazing from day one. The rest of my top 5 could be all GNR, but I do like variety. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers-Greatest Hits-I could fill up my top 5 with Petty albums. The man can write a song. Let's face it-he didn't make it this far on looks. Hank Williams, Jr.-Rowdy-Country music at it's finest Dr. Dre-The Chronic-What's this 2001 shit? It was a good album, but come on. The Chronic was one of the best rap albums ever. Len-You Can't Stop The Bum Rush-A great, great summer album that came out in 1999. They were a one-hit wonder (Steal My Sunshine), but the rest of the record is really good. Check it out.
Just last weekend I made the stupid move of actually trying to buy a CD. Both music stores in the mall were out of business and Target, Wallmart ect had nothing but Justin Timberlake CD's. Social Distortion Somewhere between heaven and hell The Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers Guns and Roses Lies Biggie Smalls Disc one of Life after Death, although I switch Juicy in there every now and again. Rap has NEVER been the same since he died. R.I.P Notorious B.I.G The Clash The singles. Basically their greatest hits. ALT FOCUS-What is your all time favorite driving song?? I know I have a bunch but "Damn it feels good to be a gangster" by the Ghetto Boys is fucking fantastic and I love "Josephine" by George Thorogood that song punches you in the fuckin mouth. I was actually looking for that song this weekend. **** I really got in the mood to hear the Geto boys song and look what I stumbled on...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vm0OtzPU ... re=related

God damn, I've been out of the music loop for quite some time now. Also, 2 of my 3 vehicles don't have CD players, and I just bring along my iPod shuffle that I haven't updated in ages. But when I do drive, which is rarely, I have the following CDs in the car: Newest As Tall as Lions CD Rodrigo y Gabriela - 11:11 The Exit - Home for and Island A house/techno/electronic mix with Pretty Lights, Deadmau5, and some other shit GlassJaw - worship and tribute. I hope these guys bust out some new material soon, I heard on their last tour they played a new song. Well, looks like I'm gonna go music thieving from my more music savvy friends soon. Hope my external has some room left.
I was about to scream 'sacrilege!,' but upon further review, I have to agree that Use Your Illusion II is superior to Appetite. I love them both, however, neither of them made my top 5. Oh, and what's with all the Greatest Hits collections? I always felt that throwing a Greatest Hits collection in your top 5 was cheating (when I've had this discussion with my friends anyway...) Led Zeppelin, Physical Graffiti. This is my number one album. Aerosmith, Rocks. You probably haven't heard this album. This was way back when Aerosmith was awesome, you know, before the albums that had nothing but love ballads and Alicia Silverstone videos. Rolling Stones, Let It Bleed. This one was tough. The Stones had probably the best album tetralogy of all time, starting with Beggars Banquet, into Let It Bleed, followed by Sticky Fingers, and ending with the majestic Exile on Main Street. Any one of the four is a great pick. AC/DC, Highway to Hell. This one was also a toss up between Highway and Back in Black. Van Halen, Fair Warning. This is by far Van Halen's best offering. Dark, just on the edge of out of control, this album gives you a glimpse of the seedy side of life.
In no particular order: 1. Sevendust: Alpha 2. Stabbing Westward: Darkest Days 3. In This Moment: The Dream 4. a random Metallica CD (can't decide which album) 5. Johnny Cash: The Legend of Johnny Cash But I usually just plug in my iPod.
I usually have an iPod, but I always make sure the following are in my car at all times: Opeth - Ghost Reveries Between The Buried & Me - Colors Faith No More - The Real Thing Kid Cudi - Man On The Moon The Streets - Original Pirate Material
These lists are fun, but frustrating. I know that as soon as I hit 'Submit' that I'm going to remember another album. Here goes: 1) Incubus - Morning View 2) Eve 6 - Horrorscope 3) Audioslave - (Self Titled) 4) Dazed and Confused Soundtrack. <----- Just added. 5) Foo Fighters - The Color and the Shape EDIT: I told you.
Both of my trucks are iPod hard-wired, so I haven't used the CD player in ages and I mainly listen to playlists I've created, but they are heavy on the following Elvis Costello Rolling Stones Led Zeppelin Tom Petty The Who Aerosmith Van Halen Stevie Ray Vaughn The Clash Kiss I also listen to Pink Floyd, but their albums should be listened to in their entirety.
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication Garden State soundtrack Nirvana - Unplugged in New York Muse - The Resistance Snow Patrol - Eyes Open
