I wonder how many people actually watch these videos. I also wonder if this should be in the youtube thread as well??? hmm
Yngwie Malmsteen can fucking shred. A lot of his stuff has a very distinctive 80's feel to it, but anyone can appreciate this.
AlmostGaunt and I had a PM conversation about my signature a couple of days ago. He asked if it was from Janis Joplin singing "Summertime". I didn't realize she had and did some looking around and it appears that "Summertime" has been recorded by just about everyone: Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, The Zombies, Janis, Sam Cooke, and Miles Davis to name a few. It turns out it was written originally by Gershwin for "Porgy and Bess" in 1935. In any case, I was most familiar with this version by Billy Stewart who was an artist signed with Chess records. It is an excellent song. There are 2 or 3 versions on YouTube, but I like this one.
I just found this awesome cover of "Luck Be a Lady" by the Toadies. Ever since I heard it, it's been stuck in my head in a good way.
If you want to romance a girl/guy, you simply can't lose with this Portuguese version of Blower's Daughter. It's absolutely stunning.
After seeing Pimptress' post about Colorado I was feeling a little nostalgic so I'm listening to a little of this... And...
Here's some more dubstep. More techno and uptempo than I usually like, but the videos, my god the videos. Worth it for those alone.
