I can listen to his music 24/7 and it will never get old. I'm surprised I haven't melted 'The Fragile' by now. Same CD's I've had since 99'.
If you like Queens of the Stone Age (and it seems I am constantly amazed by something of theirs) you have to check out Homme's wifes band Spinnerette and the perfectly named "Driving Song"
I sort of feel like a hipster listening to songs that don't even have a thousand youtube views, but whatever, this is a good song (if a little heavy-handed lyrically.) I've never been to Alabama and don't particularly care for my hometown, but this song still manages to make me "homesick."
Frank Ocean: http://stereogum.com/1087602/premature- ... valuation/ I have to listen to R&B now because my girlfriend is black (kinda). Frank Ocean is the guy who featured a little bit on 'Watch the Throne' and who just came out of the closet to the collective shrug of the hip-hop community. Up until recently, he's been selling his soul, writing music for other people. But it turns out he can sing like R-Kelly, maintain the clever pop sensibilities, and do some some devastating story-telling. Must-have for R&B fans. On the Hip Hop note; Aesop Rock's new album is out and is also awesome. I downloaded it because I'm a Rhymesayer fanboy (MF Doom, Brother Ali, Atmosphere, et al), and it did not disappoint. And on the 'People Kanye West Made Famous' note... Here's Killer Mike saying really mean things about Ronald Reagan. Awesomely. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxf2kvyZFxY And to round it out: Fucked Up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syg6XGbd ... ure=relmfu More recent stuff that will blow your dick off, even if you're a girl: El-P - Cancer for Cure Walkmen - Heaven Japandroids - Celebration Rock Killer Mike - R.A.P. Music The Shins - Port of Morrow JD McPherson - Signs and Signifiers <--- recorded using equipment from the 70s, so it would sound more like the era it emulates.
