Someone explain to me how a FIFTEEN year old Russian figure skater can test positive for performance enhancing drugs and still be allowed to compete, but Sha'Carri Richardson, who smoked some weed, was not allowed to. Make it make sense!! https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/14/sports/olympics/kamila-valieva-ruling.html
It seems to be the same logic as - Russia can't compete in the Olympics. But the Russian Olympic Committee can.........which is just Russia.
The Olympics is fucked. Corrupt. They need to get rid of the IOC and start over. I think they need to build one central place for competition, (maybe one for summer, one for winter), then have everyone go there, every time. Forget this hosting country bullshit.
But if the ROC is making the same "mistakes" as Russia, why are they still allowed to compete? And why are the other athletes who win medals being punished as well? The whole thing is bullshit. I'm not really looking for answers because like Nett said, it's all corrupt. I just feel for the clean athletes that are missing out.
It is all bullshit. I think they are allowed to compete because when ROC petitioned to enter, the athletes petitioning were like, hey we weren't doping, why should we be punished? (Russia was banned because they had a State-sponsored program that was allowing the PED use, I think.) But, I mean, good grief. A thirty-something taking steroids or doping as a way to get a competitive advantage is a whole different animal that somebody allowing (or encouraging?) a 15 year old to take a drug that makes her heart pump more, imo. That's some evil, right there. I mean, one is cheating, but the other one is really messing with someone's long-term physical and mental health.
Men's Slopestyle Freestyle is my favorite event so far. Park still looks awesome. What a great design. These skiers are so good.
How do you stop rotation like that? Crazy. And, I loved the line that Nick Goepper was running, top of the shred shed and that side entry from 1/4 pipe. Nobody else did that. USA 1, 2. Nice.
The girl that won gold was brilliant. She sat there after, alone, with no support or congrats, because the cheater girl that was popping grandpa's meds was bawling her eyes out after choking on the ice, falling and being terrible. All the ROC people were consoling her as she hogged everyone's attention.
Ahh... thanks for the context. I hate so much of the Olympics. Except the Canadians beating the US at hockey again, of course. That never gets old.
It's the one with the blue stripey thingy on the screen. I'm assuming you're watching shit on Fox Sports, btw.
-the girl who won gold (Russian) did amazing. -the girl who won silver (Russian) skates like a robot - all technical moves but no heart. Her approach to the sport is literally “if you ain’t first you’re last.” She had a meltdown after getting silver, saying she didn’t want to even go into the podium. -the girl who tested positive for drugs (Russian) got 4th and was crying about it. A girl from Japan got bronze. so after the final scores, the Russian coaches were all consoling the crying bitches, and the girl who one gold was just standing around with nobody even congratulating her or anything. For a full ten minutes. I have to say, the whole thing did make me respect Johnny Weir a little, as weird as he is. He was not giving any fucks about voicing his opinions. I don’t even care about skating…it was just interesting watching the shit show.
Gross. I love hockey. I used to be a season ticket holder for the Macon Whoopee, when I lived there, and still have my jersey, er, sweater. But, nah, I just like to deny everything unless the USA wins gold, cuz, you know, that's what we do. I saw this elsewhere, something like . . . Me as the Olympics start: wtf is a twizzle? Me on night 2: did you see her miss that twizzle?! She's trash.
I would rather the Olympics not exist than watch these hypocritical twats fall all over each other to accommodate cheating countries who simply go there to only cheat. Ban Russia forever, —every single athlete they have, dead stop. They’re a fucking disgrace to sports AND the planet in general.
I was reading today that immediately after winning gold, the Russian press was asking that girl if she was retiring. The article explained it as “the notoriously short careers of most Russian skaters” as opposed to “state sponsored child labor medal factories”
Russia's punishment was that they still get to compete, just not officially as Russia. Like that matters whatsoever. The devil is in the detail($), I guess.
