It has been about 98% decided that I'm going to use my tax refund towards a trip to New Orleans this summer. I have a feeling there are people on this board who are fans. Does anyone have any advice/tips/suggestions?
They have open container and you piss in the street. Honestly if you remember anything else you're doing it wrong.
This is a long shot, but I will be in the wonderful metropolis of Brattleboro, VT for two weeks in June. Anyone who has ever been there, shoot me a PM. Thanks in advance.
I'm taking the girlfriend and her 13 year old Daughter to San Francisco this August for about a week. I've been to the city a few times before, but only by myself. Is there anything specifically that would be good for them? I would also like to do a few day trips, I was thinking Route 1, redwoods, Napa, etc. And then I was thinking about an overnight trip to Yosemite. This will be the 13 year olds first big trip outside of her home state and I'd like to show her how grand the world can be. I'm looking for any ideas at all. Thanks.
And the smell of urine and vomit, which is year-round, but much more intense in the NOLA summer. I'd suggest going for Halloween. Better weather, Mardi Gras atmosphere but without the Mardi Gras crowd. And be sure to go to Mother's for at least 2 meals, one of which should be breakfast (creole shrimp omelette and grits), and the other for a po'boy at lunch.
Anyone recommend a good all inclusive (Adult) resort in Jamaica or Cancun that you have actually been to? Ton of choices from looking online but nobody I know has been down there, it would be great to get some suggestions. I would like to keep it under 3K with airfare
I can't recommend it on personal experience, but it just so happens my girlfriend and I just booked Punta Cana Princess in the Dominican Republic today. About $2,200 for both of us including airfare out of Cincinnati in July. We have a "platinum" package which includes premium liquor all week, %50 off all spa treatment, complimentary bottle of rum, and three genuine Dominican cigars for me. It's received almost overwhelmingly good reviews on tripadvisor. I can't fucking wait, because I haven't been on any kind of vacation greater than a weekend getaway since 2004.
Headed up to Chicago for a long weekend next month. I know we have quite a few Chicagoans on the board so I am looking for recommendations. I like to eat and drink, so names of eating and drinking establishments would be most appreciated (made reservations for Girl and a Goat and Sprout, but am not too attached to them). I am staying at Hotel Monaco so suggestions nearby would be welcome. And parking for $48/day. Fuck me, any way around that?
-be very careful about staying in any hotels near Union Square, some blocks are extremely sketchy. -the city in August can be cold and foggy...bring at least one set of warm clothes -Yosemite is kind of a long destination if you'll just be in the Bay Area for a week..just be forewarned that the trip to the Valley is fairly boring and the park will be pretty crowded then. An alternative might be instead driving down to Big Sur and doing an overnight, or turning the Napa trip into an overnight (stay in Calistoga or St Helena, do spas, etc) -Touristy, but worth it in the city: Alcatraz, the Ferry Building, CA Academy of Science, DeYoung, Golden Gate bridge, ferry to Sausalito, walk thru Chinatown, Swan Oyster Depot. What else do they personally like? Sports, arts, hipster watching, food?
Then what do I do with my car? Stick it in my pocket? I guess I should clarify, I am driving TOO Chicago, I won't have much of a need for a car there, but I hardly know where to keep it once it is there. The parking at my hotel is $48/night. Surely there must be other options, that is my question.

I'm engaged and planning a destination wedding, about 30-40 people. Looking at November around Thanksgiving time frame. So far, it looks like Jamaica is a good fit. Lots of resorts that do weddings, one of the cheaper flights in the islands, and I haven't been there before. Anyone done something like this? I here Montego Bay is kind of a dump, and Negril is where I should look at. Anyone been to Jamaica and comment on the area, or which cities/resorts are good?
I'm moving to Gwangju, South Korea in a week for about a year. Anyone been in that part of the world? What should I expect?
You want to get away from the airport and Montego ... (pssst: don't buy weed at the airport). Discovery Bay
I know I am a lurker, but you lot have never let me down for entertainment. I also know that you all (okay some of you) are worldly travelers. If any of you have any suggestions for things to see, attractions to visit, people to harass, or places to eat along or near my upcoming vacation itinerary I welcome the input. Will gladly PM a picture of the place/of the activity/etc to the suggester of any activity we make it to. If there are any truly epic pictures of course they will go up in the Kodak moment thread. Loose 8 day itinerary: August 10th Begin: Portland, Oregon Coastal Highway 101 N Olympic National Park Ferry to Victoria, BC Ferry to Vancouver, Canada Seattle, Washington August 17th end We're traveling with a small group, 2 couples all in our late 20s. We will have the equipment to backpack, camp, get wasted in the woods as well as the bank roll to try out any hot spots, restaurants or concerts. We're also "open minded and liberal" so those types of suggestions are welcome as well. Thanks all!
Y'all, I made an impromptu trip to Toronto and now I am kind of panicky about not having made any prior plans for things to do/places to eat/sights to see. Other than the Hockey Hall of Fame (I'm totally going there tomorrow!!!) and Tim Horton's (biggest letdown ever), what should I do here? I am only here for two days. And I am with my parents, who technically qualify as "old people." They're mobile and like to do stuff, but nightlife activities are out.
Go walk on top of the CN Tower, its called Edgewalk <a class="postlink" href="http://www.edgewalkcntower.ca/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.edgewalkcntower.ca/</a>
